The great ocean begins to churn, milk shaking and bubbling! Vishnu, riding Kurma the cosmic turtle, watches with worry. Indra and Surya prepare for battle as the churning grows wilder.
Indra's thunderbolts crash against the Asuras' dark magic! Surya's chariot races across the sky, blinding the demons. Vishnu urges calm, but the gods are too angry.
Mount Mandara, the churning stick, begins to sink into the ocean! Vishnu, as Kurma, dives deeper to support the mountain. The gods realize their anger is hurting the world.
A terrible poison rises from the churning ocean! It threatens to engulf everything. The gods and demons cry out in fear. Only one god can help...
Lord Shiva appears, his face calm and strong. He drinks the poison to save the universe. His throat turns blue, a sign of his great sacrifice.
Finally, the pot of Amrita, the elixir of immortality, appears! The gods cheer, but the Asuras snatch the pot and run!
Vishnu transforms into Mohini, a beautiful and enchanting woman. The Asuras are distracted by her beauty. She takes back the pot of Amrita.
Mohini begins to share the Amrita with the gods. One sneaky Asura disguises himself, but Surya and Chandra see through his trick!
Mohini cuts off the Asura's head before he can swallow the Amrita. His head becomes Rahu, a powerful planet, forever chasing the sun and moon.
The churning stops. The gods have the Amrita. The universe is safe! Vishnu smiles, pleased that balance has been restored.
The gods and asuras each reflect on what occurred and what they could have done better. Even though the elixir was meant for the gods, they realize working together could've achieved similar results.
