Captain Rostova's research vessel, 'The Serpent's Kiss,' detects an unusual energy signature deep beneath the ocean's surface. Dr. Li is ecstatic, believing it could be a new species. Mako is wary, sensing something unnatural. Old Man Hemlock warned them about a great evil long before they set off.
Mako descends into the abyssal depths to investigate the anomaly. The pressure is immense, and the darkness is absolute. As she approaches the energy signature, she sees a colossal shape moving in the shadows.
Mako comes face-to-face with the creature – a leviathan of unimaginable size, with bioluminescent eyes and razor-sharp teeth. It stares at her with an ancient, malevolent intelligence. She barely escapes back to the vessel.
Back on board, Mako describes the creature. Old Man Hemlock, who has been a silent passenger, confirms their worst fears: it is an ancient being, awakened by their intrusion, and it seeks to reclaim the surface world.
The leviathan attacks 'The Serpent's Kiss', its colossal tentacles smashing against the hull. Captain Rostova fights to keep the vessel afloat, while Dr. Li frantically searches for a way to repel the creature.
Dr. Li discovers that high-frequency sound waves might disrupt the creature. He rigs up a makeshift sonic weapon, hoping it will be enough to deter the leviathan.
The sonic weapon is activated. The leviathan recoils in pain, its bioluminescent eyes flickering. But the weapon is only a temporary deterrent; the creature is adapting.
Old Man Hemlock reveals that the only way to truly defeat the leviathan is through an ancient ritual, performed at a specific underwater location, now he is going to lead the crew there.
Mako leads a dive to the designated location, a sunken city from a forgotten civilization. The architecture is bizarre and unsettling, hinting at the leviathan's origins.
Within the city's ruins, Mako finds the artifact needed for the ritual – a crystal orb that pulses with otherworldly energy. As she retrieves it, the leviathan attacks the city.
Back on the Serpent's Kiss, the crew gathers for the ritual. The orb emits a blinding light, and the ocean around them churns violently. The leviathan surfaces, enraged.
Eva commands the crew with experience to fight off the leviathan, Dr. Jian attempts to activate the crystal to close the portal, while Mako faces the leviathan head-on, using all her skills and courage.
The ritual succeeds, and the leviathan is forced back into the abyss. The crystal orb shatters, and the ocean calms. The Serpent's Kiss limps back to port, carrying a crew forever changed by what they have witnessed.
Months later, the crew struggles to return to normal life, haunted by the encounter. Old Man Hemlock senses the leviathan may not be truly gone and their battle has only just begun. He stares out to sea, a knowing look on his face.
